Designing Arts Websites

Beacuse of my own background in the perfroming arts Touch-AKL has designed many arts websites.

Arts people care greatly how their website will look and feel to their audience. They care as much about functionality as the next client but the look of their website is integral to their business personality and the personality of an arts institution is often core to their structure.

Ballet for instance is all about grace, beauty and elegance. Contemporary and Jazz dance are about movement and expression. This is a wonderful palette for a designer to work with.

Check out Candy Lane a wonderful riot of bright lights and beautiful smiling faces all doing what they do best to a soundtrack (which you can turn off).

Or for more classical tastes MEBA and AHAAWARDS offer a glimpse into the beautiful rarefied world of classical ballet. These sites ooze beauty and gravitas joined together with clean grids and lines, just like ballet itself.

For a more functional approach The Dance Studio is no nonsense, clear and informative with youth, energy and movement dominating.

All these sites are great websites to design mainly because looks are very important in any art form. Business websites are generally more conservative but within the clarity and dependability vibe a business site must inspire, there is still room for earthy MIRA and warmth Bon Accord.
